Prof Olivier Schwartz is heading the Virus & Immunity Unit at Institut Pasteur since 2007. His work focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of HIV-1 and Zika virus replication, and on the interplay between viruses and the host immune system. He is also currently investigating the mechanisms of cell fusion, during viral entry or other physiological processes such as placenta formation. He is the former president of the Scientific Council of Institut Pasteur, and former Scientific Director of Institut Pasteur. He is author of 179 scientific publications.
