After a period of more 35 years at IBM (Watson Health), Nicky Hekster now works as an independent teacher, trainer and consultant for innovations in Healthcare and Life Sciences. As such, he is also a much sought-after guest lecturer, speaker or chairman at conferences and masterclasses.
He is an Executive Professor at the TIAS Business School and coordinates and teaches the Business Analytics, Business Intelligence, and Artificial Intelligence MScMBA course. He is an expert in the field of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare. In 2012, he was one of the first in the Netherlands to promote the use of Big Data and AI in Healthcare.
From mid-2022 till 2024 Nicky was the theme lead Health & Care at the Dutch Blockchain Coalition, bringing together industry, academics, and government around impactful use cases supported not only by blockchain, but also, SSI, MPC, or Web3 amongst others.
He studied mathematics and physics at the University of Amsterdam, where he obtained his PhD in pure mathematics in 1986. He is inspired by the difference data technology can make to improve our lives.
