Christopher Dietz-Fricke, MD

Biography

Christopher Dietz-Fricke graduated from Medical School at the University of Wuerzburg, Germany. Fascinated by liver and gastrointestinal disease he started his residency at Hannover Medical School in the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Infectious Diseases and Endocrinology. There, he started his training in internal medicine with a strong focus on hepatology and gastroenterology.

His scientific interest lies in the treatment of viral hepatitis, in particular hepatitis D, as well as basic mechanisms of gastrointestinal carcinogenesis. Christopher Dietz-Fricke recently published real-world data on the use of bulevirtide as first approved treatment against the infection with the hepatitis D virus. He is currently completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for tumor biology and experimental therapy in Frankfurt. He is also an active member of the Young German Gastroenterologists as part of the German Gastroenterological Society (DGVS).
