Company Description
VE | AME operates at the intersection of medical professional education and the global healthcare industry. We organize high-level events and congresses for healthcare professionals (HCPs) worldwide, and we actively determine and curate the scientific content. Based in the Netherlands, our approachable team consists of 25 international colleagues working in a social and friendly atmosphere.
Because we work with a wide range of international sponsors, clients, and suppliers, we face strict contractual, data privacy, and ethical compliance requirements. We are looking for a practical and organized Compliance Officer to take ownership of our compliance framework and documentation.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, autonomous role for a pragmatic professional who enjoys bringing structure to existing processes and translating complex guidelines into workable solutions. We already have a solid foundation of policies and procedures, but many need reviewing, updating, and proactive maintenance. Others still need to be developed from scratch.

- Contracts: Review standard and bespoke contracts with sponsors, clients, and suppliers; identify legal or operational risks and suggest practical amendments.
- Privacy & AVG/GDPR: Act as the internal specialist for data protection. Review Data Processing Agreements (DPA's / Verwerkersovereenkomsten), consent procedures, and maintain privacy documentation.

- Document Management: Set up and maintain a central register for policies, contracts, review dates, and outstanding actions.
- External Queries & Advice: Respond to routine contractual questions from international sponsors and suppliers, and advise management on compliance risks.
- Training: Organize and coordinate yearly compliance awareness training for staff and contractors.
What We Are Looking For

- Demonstrated experience in contract management, compliance, or legal operations. We highly value a hands-on, pragmatic mindset over a specific number of years in the field.
- A solid understanding of AVG/GDPR, data processing agreements, and basic information security requirements.
- Familiarity with, or a strong willingness to quickly learn, compliance codes within the pharmaceutical and medical devices industry (CGR / EFPIA).
- A structured, detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage deadlines and prioritize independently.
- Proactive, confident communication skills in English. The ability to read and understand Dutch legal/compliance texts is a significant advantage.
What We Offer
- Flexibility first: The choice between a part-time employment contract or a long-term freelance (ZZP) partnership.
- Hybrid flexibility: Work from our modern office in Zwolle combined with working from home.
- A varied role with true ownership, where you can make a visible impact on how compliance is managed across a growing international business.
- An open, warm, and collaborative international team of 25 colleagues.
- Market-rate salary or a competitive hourly freelance rate, matching your experience level.
